Zach Pine is an environmental artist from the San Francisco Bay Area. He is interested in public art installations and natural material sculptures. I was originally drawn to Zach because of the events that he organises. He engages with both children and adults in workshops that only uses natural materials such as stone, sticks and leaves to create sculptures or installations. Workshops such as Constructing with Nature and Rock Balancing. The are intended to be temporary and have little or no impact on the environment. He encourages participants to only use materials that have been collected from clearing paths or restoring trails.
Zach has an ongoing project that is dating back from 2005 – Annual Earth Day Celebrations at Stinson Beach (2005 – present). That is pretty impressive!
I really feel connected to Zach’s work as it is very similar to what I want to achieve with the groups that I am working with.
